Easter At Eildon
I have just come back from a magnificent camping trip up at Eildon. Eildon is one of those places that you fall in love with as
soon as you enter the town. The town itself is a small country town that puts on country fares in the town centre park and where all the locals catch up at the
one town pub in the centre of town over a beer.

We left on the 2 1/2 hour road trip up to Eildon on Friday morning with me, the missus and a few mates. Inevitably we would have to go through the Black Spur
where all the surrounding area's were devastated by the massive bush fires not that long ago. It was jaw dropping to see the devastation that the bush fires had caused as well as
bewildering as the charred remains of houses and trees were scattered here and there. Why some places were spared the intense flames and others not is a mystery.
We arrived around ten and after a 1/2 hour of setting up tents and a main eatery, we proceeded to get into the beer and laze in the sun as we talked shit and ribbed each other.
As it was the first day we had plenty of time to slowly wind into things yet the pace was set early and many of us were off our faces by dinner time.
It was interesting to see a bunch of blokes standing around trying to cook sausages on a BBQ that were frozen, while the girls sat around and talked girly stuff over wine and cheese.
By 10pm, that night i was ready for bed and hit the sack. Howver some of us decided it was too early and despite running out of fire wood went about collecting branches and nearly falling into the pondage of the Eildon.
At around 3am i heard a zip of a tent bed, we'll go fishing another time" "THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME"- This ended up being the catch phrase of the whole trip and we never failed to yell it out at him throughout the trip.
The next day Me and the missus decided to take a look at the picturesque Lake Eildon - We went down to Jerusalem Creek which has been a favorite holiday spot for many a eons. The water level was quite a site to behold. The drought has certainly taken it's toll on Australia and it's no more evident than at Lake Eildon where the once full lake is now looking at about 1/4 full or less. No matter the lake still looks impressive and still much fun can be had on the lake in the way of fishing and wakeboarding / sking and much piss. An idea was spawned that we should hire a house boat on the lake next time and really live it up.

Over the next couple of days we had an absolute ball. The weather was fantastic - not to hot - not to cold. We fished in the pondage, drank enough piss to sink a cargo ship, talked crap and took the piss out of each other.
It was the best break that i have had in awhile and all involved tend to agree as none of us wanted to leave and could easily stay another week. I always new that Camping was fun but this was truly a laugh from beginning to end.
